The Legend of The Drunken Flower In 1996 an Art Director & Creative Group Head from J. Walter Advertising Company gave up their jobs and came to Chiang Mai in search of a dream. This dream involved alcohol, exotic flowers and good food. Their dream came to fruition in the form of ‘The Drunken Flower Bar & Restaurant’. Initially located on Huay Kaew Road, we soon became renowned for our extensive selection of imported wines and exotic flowers from Holland. Patrons could enjoy wining and dining in a heavenly garden filled with exotic colorful flowers. Creating an ambience unlike any other, with our wide range of wines, we became known as ‘The Drunken Flower & Wine Club’. The following year, in 1997, we moved to Nimmanhaemin Road, at the beginning of Soi 1. At this new location we began serving whiskey and other various liquors, shortening our selection of wines as a result of climbing taxes on imported wines. It was at this time our name shortened to simply ‘The Drunken Flower’, as it is known day. In 1998 ‘The Drunken Flower’ moved again, this time only a short distance, to the end of Soi 1. Now located in a house, patrons would have the option of drinking and dining in the outside garden/bar setting or at the indoor bar, with its warm, homely atmosphere, decorated with a mix of both western and oriental art, mostly retro in look and feel. Our foreign customers would call it a place where ‘east meets west’. 10 years later, in 2008, we moved to our current location on Nimmanhaemin Road, in the middle of Soi 17. |
